What Does Your Username Mean to You?
So we've all picked our usernames for no doubt personal reasons, reasons that may not be obvious to other members. Sometimes they have interesting and wild stories behind them, sometimes they're special to us because of who helped us decide on them. No matter where your username came from it was no doubt something you picked with care, because that was who you were going to be known as.
So tell me all about how you came across your username!
My username seems kind of weird, doesn't it? It could also be considered almost inappropriate if someone didn't realize it's not meant to come across that way.
I actually started using this username sometime back in high school. The reason was really quite simple. I've always seen myself as someone who is very different from other people, when I grew up I used to think there was this book that got passed around to every other kid called "How to Socialize". I never got to read the book and so I believed that I had intentionally been left without knowing how to get along with anyone else, or what was socially appropriate. I had to stumble through it all throughout my life, watching as I was considered the weird kid and left alone by other people until I came across people who I could truly consider to be friends to me, such as Tidal.
So therefore I consider myself a "twisted" person. Not in a bad way, I'm just simply different than lots of other people. Which it's actually nice that I'm similar to lots of people on here. Finding a place where you can be different yet same is really great.
"Lover" came from the fact that I just love lots of things. I love Pokemon and Digimon and all this other stuff. And once I actually do like something I almost always continue to like it, even if I switch to liking something else more. So put them together and you get a twisted person who loves things that may be different and twisted themself.
The fact that my favorite movie genre is horror could be another way to look at my username... ;3

Well I would explain mine but it's pretty straightforward. Umbreon is my favorite pokemon and who doesn't love the sleek shiny colors? On most other sites I go by ShinyUmbreon18, but the 18 is meaningless in every way, most a random number I flung at the end of it.
That actually started back in 2011 when I got my Xbox, ShonyUmbreon was taken so I slapped an. 18 at the end of it, and that's what i usually use, though I remain without the number here because of nostalgia.

Well I went with Intel simply because most people here are from PS and that was my PS nickname. I started off with my oxymoronic username on there since I didn't really take anything seriously and I just joined to look at the PC. I eventually became dedicated and shunned my username, so I just specifically stated that I'd prefer to be called by nicknames instead. Eventually Intel popped up since it was the first 5 letters of my username and it was catchy. The rest is just history from here on out.

I like Silver from Pokemon G/S/C / HG/SS a lot P: I usually would go with Cherrytin but I thought I'd change it up a little. Figured here would be a good place to do so since Silver wasn't taken yet, heh. My account on PS was MalevolentJuggernaut and that username was just two words I thought were cool. I actually still like it, but it's a bit long so I decided to stop using it.

Like my good friend, Shiny, I use the username Hydro Pumper on each community or web site I join! It's like my online persona in a way. :') The name obviously comes from the move Hydro Pump! I'm not exactly sure why I chose Hydro Pump in particular, though perhaps because it sounds better than Bubble Beamer... or Water Pulser.... or Waterfaller... or Waterfall Surfer (2010 members catch the reference? ) haha.
I prefer being referred to Hydro, simply because saying Hydro Pumper is like calling someone by their full name. :3

(Dat waterfall surfer reference.)
I never really had a deep meaning towards my username. At a certain time during PS, I had recently be reengaged in the Wolf's Rain series and with the character, Hige. I later changed this to my username just for the fangirl moment. On other sites I always use, Achilleswolf. (If any others are taken, AchillesTheWolf, ScotchAchilles, etc.) Too many users on Pokestadium knew me for a long time as Hige, so changing it would really throw people off. So for any Pokestadium related site, (Here and Pokepavillion,) I'll always use that name.
However I'll be seen as, Achilleswolf, for any other site.

Hm. Well I actually have to think about mine for a while. My common name before was either Syika or MewSparks I think. My favorite Pokemon is Mew, so there's part of it. I really really love cats and that is another part. Where I got Tidal from is a little harder...When I was younger I used to love the ocean but I don't think that really did it for this. Hmhm, I think it has to do with the tides themselves, and the way they push and pull. That or yet another name from an oc. Either way the name kind of stuck.
TidalMewMew is a kind of unique name I think, so I really like it. If I ever change it, it will probably have something to do with space because space is EPIC.

Post by shinysharpedo on Nov 27, 2013 15:46:18 GMT -5
I had a couple of really bad usernames (no, I will not share) before shinysharpedo. Then I went to Bulbagarden and decided that I'd make it Pokemon related. I had four shiny pokemon at the time, and Sharpedo was the coolest of them. So shinysharpedo. I gradually grew to realize that this name, shinysharpedo, is a name that that a) I don't hate it! and b) nobody else is going to use it. So I figured that rather than think of a new name every time, shinysharpedo works. It gradually grew into another persona for me, just like what Hydro said.

For me, this goes back to when I was three years old. When my Dad was setting up my webkinz account. I was obsessed with the My Little Pony character Sparkleworks. Y'know, the orange one with a pink mane/tail and tinsel in it. Yeah, her. So, I wanted her in my username, and added a 1 to the end, voila!

Post by DarkNerd on Dec 3, 2013 2:33:03 GMT -5
Well, I first used my Username on Adventure Quest, before the"Worlds" part was added. Yeah. Anyways, it had stemmed from my OC, which was basically me, but 'fixed'. He wasn't afraid of a lot things, he was great at socializing, he had a lot of friends, his enemies were more of frenemies, he was strong, and he was always competent. He didn't really have a name. It wasn't until middle school I named him Dark Nerd. Dark because it was cool, and Nerd because I was a nerd (May or may not have been a play on the name, "Dark Knight"). Eventually, as I grew, so did he. He's still a slightly different version of me, but I wouldn't say better. He gained more fears,he was less popular (on account of technically being three people- I'll get into that later), still had many friends (but now so did I, thanks to PS), he still had frenemies, but now had actual enemies, some with valid reasons to want him dead, he was still strong and I still physically weak, and he was less competent and more human. I ended up dividing him into multiple people as well- Dark is the "evil" side, who really just likes messing with people and is more of a jerk than evil. Dark Nerd is the neutral one, most like me, and he's a bit of a coward, motivated by self-preservation, greed, and emotions (such as guilt, kindness, joy, etc.). And then we have Nerd, the "good" side who blindly does whatever he thinks is right. They're all part of one being, and can fuse and unfuse at will, and remain as 3 separate brains, but they still represent me. I can be a bit of jerk at times, especially when I'm trying hard to be funny/(word for showing off or something)/or stressed. And when I do whatever I feel as right, I generally make things worse, because I just do it. Neutral is most like me because that's pretty much me when I'm not either of those. My username pretty much represents who I am, where I came from, how I became who I am, and why I am.

Blaquaza is probably what all of you can guess it is; a fusion of Blaziken and Rayquaza. It's from my old username, Rayziken 2 (the two being from Mewtwo, only the actual number), which was a lot worse.
I also used Tanooki Koopa on a forum or two. That's because my favourite Mario Power-Up at the time was the Tanooki Suit (it's now the Penguin Suit, which looks like a more colourful version of my onesie XD), and my favourite Mario enemy is the Koopa.

I really like Final Fantasy, and I really like Chocobos. So my name is the combination of two Chocobo names; Chobi, and Boko. I could have used Boco instead, but I thought the 'K' looked better. I have been using this name a lot for years.

Mine is probably incredibly obvious.
It started with Sylveon. I had actually come to dislike my former mangaka pen name a lot considering I no longer wanted to draw manga for a living and all it did was serve as a reminder of my unfortunate weeaboo phase I went through years back. I really wanted to stop using 'Hoshino Hikari' so I decided to come up with something new. I took Sylveon and decided to come up with a variant of it, and I really liked the sound of Sylveona. It may just look like Sylveon with an 'a' tacked on but it actually sounds very pretty once you actually say it.
I don't really mind people calling me Hoshi or Hoshino or anything, I just prefer Sylveona now.
