Favorite Game Aspects
There's many different Pokemon games, up to six generations as well as spin-off series as well with multiple games in each, and therefore each game ends up having its own special aspects. Such as villain, hero, adventure, etc. All kinds of things come with each type of game. Perhaps favorite gameplay, even!
What I'm curious to know is what were some of your favorite aspects of the different games? Such as villain, hero, gameplay, storyline, etc.
If I had to pick a favorite storyline I would go with Pokemon RSE. The reason for that is because it just felt the most intense to me. The entire major storyline of the game was beating two teams that wanted to change the world entirely, by making more land or sea. Except once their plan actually works things go from bad to worse and you're given the feeling of impending doom from drowning rains or searing heat. Even the background music itself during those segments is pushing the concept of running out of time, a steady fast beat like the ticking of a clock.
For favorite villain I think I would have to choose Ghetsis. He was just the most interesting out of all the Pokemon villains I've come across to this point. All that intridate planning to get exactly what he wanted and then it all fell apart, and then the game actually goes and shows him having that mental breakdown you would expect from this kind of life-altering event. Not to mention how curious it is that one side of his face seems to have sufferend from a stroke, he has an eye missing apparently, and seems to not have one of his arms. Not only is he incredibly cruel and evil but he's mysterious as well because we never get any backstory on why he's so injured like this.
Favorite hero has to be the characters from Explorers. A human from the future coming back and becoming a Pokemon, still somehow managing to continue with their forgotten mission of saving the world? And on top of that despite the fact that the main character knows they'll disappear along with the entire future if they go through with it they still save the world because it's the right thing to do. I can't think of any other totally selfless hero in the games. One who would even go so far as to stop existing just to save everyone else.
For gameplay I would probably have to pick either the Rangers or Rescue/Explorers series. Explorers is what I'll go with for my overall favorite though, mostly because there's still lots of after-story gameplay that you can go through. Leveling up your characters, gathering up all the Pokemon you can in the games. Just some of the things I love doing in a game. Ranger Signs would have been good gameplay if the after-story (In the past sections) didn't basically require you to have one other person there to actually do decent on it.
So what are your favorite aspects of the different games?
