Removing domains that also appear in featured snippets will stop search engines from displaying pages whose content has been used to generate featured snippet positions for a given query, at least on the first page of results, according to Representative Danny Sullivan. The message posted on Twitter on March 23rd is as follows If a web listing is promoted to a featured snippet position, we will no longer duplicate the listing in the search results. This organizes results and helps users find relevant information more easily. Featured snippets count as one of the ten list of web pages we display.
This decision by Google is overwhelmingly positive for websites that did not benefit from this feature as it frees up a spot in organic so they can occupy that spot. So assuming the page selected for the feature Email Marketing List fragment has been removed from the previous name, the page that was at position 1 before this update would theoretically automatically go to the home page. For sites that already benefit from this feature and have selected their content to generate dynamic responses in, the loss to unique visitors is likely to be negligible since they will be getting the majority of their unique traffic through the featured snippet anyway. This phenomenon should be noted however because it is unclear what will happen if this account's landing page is removed from the first page if the domain loses selection for the featured snippet.
