Welcome to the Fanclubs Forum!
Welcome to the Fanclubs Forum! In this forum fans come together to talk about their favourite fandoms and interests.
What exactly is a fanclub?
Essentially a fanclub is a thread which revolves around a broad subject (for example, The Simpsons), and each week a subtopic is posted within the thread (Which is your favourite character in The Simpsons? Which episode is your favourite? etc). There is the fanclub owner who posts and manages the thread, and is responsible for posting topics about the fanclub every week. Anyone is free to join any fanclub in the forum, as long as it is active.
Fanclub Posting Rules
When you post a fanclub ensure that you follow all fanclub rules. Any fanclubs that do not follow them will be deleted and you will be warned. Continually breaking this will result in you losing your ability to post in this section.
Keep fanclubs positive
Fanclubs which are against something (ie, "the anti-*subject* group!" will not be welcome).
Fanclub Ownership
There is currently no limit to the amount of fanclubs that one can own. However, make sure that you can remain active in each one. If a fanclub becomes unattended it will be locked and you will receive a warning. Always tell a moderator when you can no longer take care of your club. It's rude towards the people in the club who expect it to still be active and taken care of.
Avoid duplicate fanclubs
If there is already an active fanclub based on something, please do not create another one based on the same thing.
Groups shouldn't be too specific, or too broad
A fanclub which is too broad can easily result in the group trailing off-topic, whilst fanclubs which are too specific can make it more difficult to discuss things. For example:
-Instead of creating a fanclub about Anime (which is too broad), create a fanclub based on a specific anime series.
-Rather than posting a fanclub about Homer Simpson (which is too specific), create a fanclub based on The Simpsons. That way eventually one of your fanclub subtopics could be about Homer.
Keep discussion on banners and club promotional material to PM with the club owner
Too many clubs lately have been focussing their discussion on userbars and such, which is good, but it needs to be reminded that a club's purpose is to discuss the subject of the club. So therefore keep any discussion on club promotional material to PM for now on. Submitting promotional material in the thread is ok (commenting on submitted material is fine too, as long as you contribute to the current topic in the same post).
When signing up for a club, you need to answer the first discussion topic as well within your post
Posts which only contain a sign-up form will be noted as spam for now on, so please avoid it. We want to encourage more discussion in the Fanclub Forum, and cut down on the empty posts and the "POST COUNT +1" thing.
The fanclub owner does not need to tell someone when they are accepted on the thread itself
This will increase your post count ridiculously and is also spam, please do not do this. When someone is accepted into your fanclub you will leave them a profile comment so they know. Or you can address everyone at once after quite a handful of people have joined. You must also address something else in the post as well or else it will still be considered as spam even then.
GIFs
Please do not use GIFs repeatedly in a fanclub, every once and a while is okay. However if you're using GIFs for many things that you post then it's just going to be spam at that point.
Mini-Modding
If you do not have a rank within the fanclub to accept members or do leader-position things then do not try to pretend you are. You do not have the right to accept members if you do not have the required rank within the fanclub itself, doing so is against the rules and will result in warnings.
You are welcome to ask any questions you may have about fanclubs here too, or if you prefer to send one of our moderators a PM you are more than welcome to do so. Enjoy posting here in Fanclubs!
