How To Recolor- Chocolate (Paint)
This tutorial will focus on the type of recolor that is known as a Chocolate. The idea is that you make a sprite look like a piece of chocolate that someone will want to eat. This can be either light, dark, white, or any other kind of chocolate that exists. It can even have a combination of all three of them. Including such things as sprinkles if one knows how to scratch them on.
You'll want to know how to actually recolor a sprite within Paint, if you don't already know this you'll want to check out the tutorial here.
Another thing you'll want to know is how to create a pallete. We currently don't have a tutorial for that so you'll want to find a tutorial online for it.
Light Chocolate
I personally have two different palletes for light chocolate, one that I had before this tutorial and one that I've obtained while making this one. I'll be showing you both of them so you can see some differences.
I'll use a Suicune sprite for this section.
Make up your own light chocolate pallete, be influenced by things around you and test out how they look!
Dark Chocolate
I only have one pallete for this one. This section will use Entei as the example.
Light and Dark Chocolate Mix
Get your sprite, for this tutorial I'll be using Raikou and doing a combination of both my dark and light chocolate palletes.
For this step you'll want to simply put the light pallete on lighter parts of the sprite. Therefore I'll be using the light, bottom, pallete on the white, yellow, and the blue.
The dark pallete, top, is going to focus on the stripes, the grey helmet, and the purple fluff.
This sprite doesn't show much of a difference between my light and dark palletes. And this may be something that you prefer to do. However, I'll create a new pallete real quick that's even lighter to show those differences.
Now you can see the new pallete that I'll be using with my old dark pallete.
Now that's a much better difference. Simply play around when you're mixing up the light and the dark chocolates!
Additions
Sprinkles
There can be all kinds of sprinkles on a sprite, I'll show you a few examples. However I'll leave it up to you to come up with sprinkle ideas and creative ways for them to look.
Cherries
Another thing that one can do with their Chocolates are to actually go even further. Here you can see some examples from Hoshino Hikari and their Chocolate sprites. They actually went and added in three different chocolate types: Milk chocolate, white chocolate, and strawberry chocolate!
And on top of that they even went and scratched on some cherries to make their sprites look even more yummylicious.
So don't be shy to try out some scratching, put on some cherries. Or maybe some strawberries, or any other thing you'd love to eat with your chocolate. These are your Chocolate sprites, try to make them as tasty as they could be to you!
Caramel
As you can see on this sprite, by TidalMewMew, she actually turned Tentacruel's tentacles into something that looks like goopy and dripping caramel. Something delicious and adds a new flavor into the chocolate.
Scratching
These three sprites are by TidalMewMew, see how delicious they look? And so very original too! They're all delicious food Pokemon sprinkled in chocolate. And don't you feel horrible for just wanting to eat them up?
This is the kind of creation you can make, and it only required her to do a bit of scratching. So again, just try your hand at it. Come up with some crazy idea, test it out and you never know what kind of thing you'll be able to create.
Come up with your own and feel free to show them off!
If there are any questions that you have, feel free to ask them either in a PM or post here.
