How to Powershade a Sprite (Paint) This tutorial was originally created by a member named Draganera, if they every show up I'll allow them to re-create it under their account so they can gain fuller credit for this. For right now, they are the original creators of this!
Powershading is a shading method that makes your Pokémon Sprites looks "soft" and also can often look better than the Cellshading which Nintendo uses. Find out how Powershading works! As we see, is up there left a small dark orange color. With this color we will begin. This is so the darkest "graduation". This color will we put where it is darkest. We sat down this graduation there because the light comes from top left, so at this point is probably the least light. Ok, we have made this step, we go up in the edit bar in Paint "Colors" -> "Palette ...". Then take a little brighter color. Now we have the color. Then paint around with this color to the darkest place. We then repeat this again and again until we have finished that part. So it looks like: (from left to right, then left again ...) So, as good as done. Only the outlines remain to be recolored. First, we again take the darkest color of our sprites and then "color">> "Palette Edit ... and then we make it darker. I personally am not ready yet but ... But you have to decide whether you are doing this step. So I'm back with a darker color than that of flat and then I dye the black outlines in this color. FINISHED!Other Examples with Powershading:
